Keep the corporate warehouse inventory separate from whiskey Lem Motlow individually owned in Cincinnati and Birmingham. The court rejected the government's probable-cause theory against the sellers.
Primary judicial description of the St. Louis corporation, stored whiskey, and ownership transfer.
The federal court found that on June 26, 1923, Don H. Robinson purchased the entire capital stock of the Jack Daniel Distilling Company. The sellers transferred warehouse certificates for roughly 895 barrels and 69 bottled-in-bond cases—about 40,000 gallons—resigned their offices, cancelled their stock certificates, and turned over the corporation's books and minutes.
