Notes
Union Horse Distilling Co. is the named business or producer connected with Union Horse. The guide below preserves the distinctions between business identity, current ownership where documented, and the sources of individual releases.
Brand Overview
Union Horse is a family whiskey business in Lenexa, Kansas, within the greater Kansas City area. Its identity embraces a metropolitan community spanning Kansas and Missouri, while its distillery address belongs specifically to Kansas. Founded in 2010, the producer presents its whiskey as a local manufacturing project, handling milling through bottling in house rather than using regional imagery alone to establish provenance. A Family Division Of Labor
In its July 2023 account, Union Horse names the four Garcia siblings behind the business: Eric in general management, Patrick in distilling, Damian in sales and marketing, and Mary Garcia Gallagher in events. The account connects Midwest-grown grain, regional farming and seasonal weather to the company's production identity. These are the producer's explanation of its approach; they should not be converted into a claim that climate alone determines a particular flavor. “Midwest Born & Raised,” July 2023
The Knowledge Library supplies an earlier independent portrait. Carlo DeVito's The Spirit of Rye describes grain purchased from regional farmers, milling at the distillery and a small operation built around the same family roles. Its production-volume estimate belongs to the 2021 account and is not a current capacity figure. Bourbon And Rye As Distinct Foundations
Reserve Straight Bourbon uses a corn-and-rye sour mash and copper-pot distillation. The current producer page lists 92 proof, five to seven years of aging and non-chill filtration. It does not disclose grain percentages there, so a precise numerical mash bill should not be supplied from assumption. Reserve Straight Bourbon
Reunion Straight Rye uses a 100% rye recipe. The current page lists 93 proof, five to seven years of aging and non-chill filtration, with bottles numbered and signed by master distiller and cofounder Patrick Garcia. DeVito's 2021 profile also records the 100% rye recipe and 93 proof, providing a useful historical comparison without proving that every release has identical barrel selection. Reunion Straight Rye
The barrel-strength version deserves its own record. Its producer page describes 110-proof barrel entry and an uncut presentation, while displaying 121.4 proof for the product shown. Entry proof and bottling proof describe different moments, and the displayed strength should not be assigned automatically to every batch. Barrel Strength Reunion
Finishes And The Wider Portfolio
Port Finish Reunion extends the rye into a separate maturation treatment: the producer describes five-to-seven-year rye followed by at least sixteen months in ruby Port barrels, bottled at 100 proof. That is a cask-finishing account, not a recipe for adding Port wine directly to the finished spirit. Port Finish Reunion
Rivalist American Single Malt, Rolling Standard Four Grain and a bottled-in-bond Reserve broaden the current portfolio beyond the two core expressions. Their presence makes Union Horse useful for exploring grain choices within one producer's work. Compare the standard bourbon and rye first, then choose a barrel-strength or finished expression with its own release details. Availability and the complete range are best checked against the current producer catalog.
