Carlton, Carla Harris. Barrel Strength Bourbon: The Explosive Growth of America’s Whiskey. Clerisy Press, 2017. First edition.
Carlton describes a January 2016 session using five stave-finished sample types and graduated-cylinder mixtures. Her group made six trial blends, chose one Seared French Cuvee, three Maker's 46, five Roasted French Mocha and one Toasted French Spice stave, then had the ten staves installed in a barrel for further maturation.

Chapter 2 — private selection at Maker's Mark
Ready as a source locator, not independent claim verification. E-reader capture screens, not print pagination. The five sample categories are not five currently sold consumer bottles. A bench blend guiding stave selection is not evidence that a ten-stave finish equals a simple bottled-whiskey mixture. The book uses nine weeks here and ten weeks elsewhere; preserve the account rather than force a universal duration.
