Chapter 7 describes stripping wash into low wines and selecting fractions during a later spirit run. Recycling heads or tails can recover alcohol and change the composition of future charges. Routing to wash, low wines or a separate recovery run creates different process histories. The book acknowledges that definitive steady-state congener evidence is limited; repeating a route does not prove the inventory has stabilized.
