In 1865, Cincinnati whiskey was reportedly entering Nashville under the Old Robertson name, prompting county distillers to designate exclusive dealers and circulate an authenticity notice.
Whisky from Queen City’s stockpile was flooding into Nashville. Apparently, some of them were coming in stamped as old Robertson. Frustrated at this new tactic, a group of Robertson County distillers took action to protect their good names. They set up agreements with two wholesalers … as exclusive dealers of their spirits.
