Corroborates that the July release was an explicit WPB action and that further 1945 limited production was under active consideration. It does not, by itself, prove the dates of each later short release.
Contemporaneous July 1945 trade-journal account of the WPB Industrial Alcohol Producers Advisory Committee’s June 14 meeting. It documents the administrative and stockpile basis for the July release and possible later limited production.
“In view of reduced requirements for industrial alcohol, it may be possible to authorize continued limited production of beverage alcohol after the July release of facilities,” officials of the War Production Board told the Industrial Alcohol Producers Advisory Committee. The report added that an adequate stockpile was approximately 60,000,000 gallons and that more than 40,000,000 gallons could be released from industrial-alcohol production if estimated requirements did not increase.
