Source argument

A short tertiary overview of grain-defined whiskey and selected product examples, rather than a comprehensive historical or scientific account.

Evidence map

All 51 lines of 185-reading.txt read, including references and caption. Actual image pixels unreviewed.

Lines 9–12: the sugar-added moonshine contrast is a stereotype, not a universal definition. The regulation permits barrel entry at 125 proof or less, correcting the article's lower-than wording. Bourbon identity requires more than corn percentage and a new charred barrel; retain all applicable conditions. The six-month aging generalization and claimed reduction of fusel alcohols are not substantiated by this stub. Do not treat maturation as guaranteed removal of unwanted compounds. Straight and bottled-in-bond require additional conditions, not age alone.

Lines 13–26: claims about most producers being small and nationwide availability need dated market evidence. Six bibliography entries are leads, not six newly read works. Smiley's book was not read here; retailer listings and an old TTB manual do not establish present availability or current law. Image of Georgia Moon not visually reviewed.

Researcher synthesis

Separate grain bill, legal designation, aging and marketing terminology in retrieval. Compare No access. No unchecked historical, sensory or market claim promoted to Excerpts/Citations/Zettels.

Assessment

Written review complete; short, dated stub with limited coverage. Native archive, image and browser layout checks remain open. The regulation check corrects specific definitions, not every assertion.

Preservation reconciliation — September 8, 2026

The original HTML snapshot is now included in the native Wikipedia-Captures-173-218.zip package on No access. Earlier preservation-pending language is superseded for that HTML only. Local original hashes and ZIP integrity were checked; native attachment presence was refetched. Remote images/assets were not bundled and a new cloud-byte comparison was not performed. Written-source reading does not establish that every cited work or illustration was reviewed. Other source-specific holds remain unchanged.
