Source argument

Brand history follows family ownership, sourced aged stocks, scarcity, awards and counterfeiting.

Evidence map

LINK-203, revision 1370023221, numbered extraction lines 1–101 read, including references and tables where present. Citation entries are not verification of cited works.

Lines 6–14: 2002 joint-venture bottling does not mean all aged contents distilled there after 2002. Check 1910 acquisition and 1991 closure; a 2015 projection for 2025 is not actual output. Lines 20–30: shared mash does not mean identical Weller and Pappy whiskey. Lines 37–42: theft dates conflict, and charges, convictions and sentence changes require original reporting. Lines 44–45: counterfeit fraud differs from openly labeled home blends.

Researcher synthesis

Catalogue as a brand article, not a full biography of the redirected person. Garden & Gun's 2018 Poor Man's Pappy item is a blending lead, not proof of sensory equivalence.

Assessment

Tertiary discovery source. Uncertain dates, present specifications and priority claims remain open. No direct quotations promoted. Images, preservation and presentation pending.

Completion checklist

Canonical Source related and written reading recorded.
Argument, synthesis and limitations distinguished.
Consequential claims independently corroborated.
Visual, preservation and presentation review complete.
Durable claims ready for promotion.

First-party chronology follow-up — September 8, 2026

The Old Rip Van Winkle heritage timeline, 2002 “Buffalo Trace Partnership” panel, reports the partnership and production beginning in May 2002. That date does not establish the distillation site of every aged bottle released immediately afterward. Production start, maturation period and bottling must remain separate.

The 1935 and 1972 panels support the company's account of opening Stitzel-Weller and its later sale. The timeline does not resolve the disputed closure date. Its 1977 panel compresses Julian III's entry and the Old Hoffman acquisition; avoid assigning every event in that paragraph to the panel date without additional records.

The entire extracted written timeline was read; narration and images were not. This is a commercial family account, not independent proof of tasting superiority, quotations, or precise historic inventory composition.

Illustration check — September 12, 2026

The Pappy bottle photograph could not be retrieved (HTTP 429 / robot-policy response). No bypass attempted. Source remains partial.

Successful image downloads and the exact failed URL log are preserved in the Wikipedia seven-review media archive on No access. This is an access hold, not missing permission. No claim of complete source coverage or publication clearance.
