Source argument

Tertiary account of composition, labeling and market positioning. It mixes legal summary with unverified statements about quality, price and flavor.

Evidence map

All 33 lines of 187-reading.txt reviewed, including references. Local original revision retained.

Lines 1–10: distinguish straight as a legal designation from a customer's serving request. The opening new-charred-oak rule omits the corn exception noted later. It also lacks the newer straight American single malt category, whose barrel and disclosed caramel rules make blanket claims about all straight whiskey misleading. Age and grain thresholds alone are not a complete classification test. The 2021 sales figure is dated and must retain its category and units; it is not a current total. Export scope and the claim that bottled-in-bond is the only other age labeling rule need exact authority, not this summary.

Lines 11–17: 80% is a legal distillation ceiling for the discussed types, not a universal sensory threshold at which most flavor disappears. Distillation design, cuts and congeners require technical evidence. Premium straight versus economy blended is an unsupported market generalization. The blend remainder need not be exclusively higher-proof unaged spirit: the regulation permits whiskey or neutral spirits, alone or combined. The 20% basis is proof gallons, not ordinary volume. Canadian comparison is an analogy, not a US straight classification for Canadian spirit.

Lines 20–26: six reference entries read; 2007/2008/2021 legal sources and 2009 Scotch guidance are dated discovery leads. No underlying cited book or report claimed as fully read.

Researcher synthesis

Use jurisdiction, statutory category, physical blending activity and sensory quality as distinct retrieval concepts. Compare No access. No unchecked market or sensory assertion promoted to a factual Zettel. Underlying EX/CI integration remains open for any claims selected for publication.

Assessment

Source-content review complete for the preserved revision: all 33 extracted lines and reference entries reviewed. The six HTML images are website logos/footer graphics and a tracking pixel, not article illustrations; no embedded audio or video was found. Native HTML preservation has been reconciled. Browser presentation is a separate, still-unverified check. This is not blanket publication clearance. Legal checks are bounded to the linked section; foreign rules and age-label details require their governing text.

Completion checklist

One Source and collective credit linked.
Written article and references read.
Source account separated from qualifications.
Remaining underlying claims verified.
HTML preservation reconciled and article-media inventory checked; no article illustrations or embedded audio/video present.
Browser presentation verified.

Revision 1366596429; supporting 27 CFR 5.143, full displayed text read. This check does not mark all cited works processed.

Preservation reconciliation — September 8, 2026

The original HTML snapshot is now included in the native Wikipedia-Captures-173-218.zip package on No access. Earlier preservation-pending language is superseded for that HTML only. Local original hashes and ZIP integrity were checked; native attachment presence was refetched. Remote images/assets were not bundled and a new cloud-byte comparison was not performed. Written-source reading does not establish that every cited work or illustration was reviewed. Other source-specific holds remain unchanged.
