Understanding Flavored Whiskey
The flavored-spirits class starts with whiskey that meets its base standard before qualifying natural flavoring materials or wine are added, with or without sugar. Bottling must be at least 30% ABV / 60 proof. The designation identifies the base spirit and one or more predominant flavors. A honey or cream whiskey-branded product is not automatically flavored whiskey; liqueurs and specialty products need their own classification.
