Understanding Rye Whiskey

This type requires at least 51% rye in the fermented mash, distillation at no more than 160 proof, and storage in new charred oak at no more than 125 proof on entry. There is no minimum storage duration for this non-straight type. Permitted additions are subject to the federal rules; the straight version has tighter restrictions.
