Understanding Bourbon Whiskey
This type requires at least 51% corn in the fermented mash, distillation at no more than 160 proof, and storage in new charred oak at no more than 125 proof on entry. There is no minimum storage duration for this non-straight type. Bourbon must be distilled and aged in the United States; coloring, flavoring and blending materials are not permitted. Wheat in the recipe can make a bourbon wheated without making it wheat whiskey.
